The 2021 PEI ACL Provincial Effective Speaking Competition was hosted by 53 C.E. Monty Squadron.
Due to COVID 19 restrictions it was decided to hold a virtual competitions. A team representing all the provinces was put together to work on the process. Gail Lecky was PEI’s rep; the team was headed by Raquel Lincoln (MB).
The changes made for this year:
1 each participant would get an on-line survey at each level of the competition to determine their satisfaction level and gather information for future contests;
2 cash prizes were offered at the National level:1st place is $500, 2nd is $300 and 3rd is $200, participation $10;
3 Kiwanis Club of Charlottetown provided cash prizes in PEI:$100, $75, $50 and $25 participation;
4 a data base was started to gather historical information; and
5 a promotional video was developed called “Where are they now”; a new virtual cadet training course was developed and rolled out (Capt. Andrea Matheson).
The PEI competition was held at 10:00 am Saturday May 1, 2021.
