There is no sport equal to that which aviators enjoy while being carried through the air on great white wings.Wilbur Wright

You haven’t seen a tree until you’ve seen its shadow from the sky. Amelia Earhart

Gliders, sailplanes, they are wonderful flying machines. It’s the closest you can come to being a bird. Neil Armstrong

If the exhilaration and excitement of flying and gliding have been captured any better than by these pioneers of flight, then we haven’t read it!When you hear those of us involved in the organization of having to ensure we put the ‘air’ in Air Cadet, this is what we mean – gliding and power flying.  It’s what makes us distinct and draws thousands of young people to experience flight, often for the first time and sometimes as their start to a lifelong journey. And more than just helping you ‘experience’ flight, we go one step further – we put you in the driver’s seat!  Now that’s an experience you will never forget and it may just be your ticket to a lifetime hobby, a business or a full career in the aviation world.

Below are some details of the two main areas of flying that you can experience in the Air Cadets – gliding and power!

Our flying programs are all voluntary, we might add…but we’re pretty sure you will want to get your own ‘taste of flight’ and truly see those trees below as you soar amongst the clouds!

Debert Cadet Flying Training Centre

The Debert Cadet Flying Training Centre, in Debert, N.S., is one of four CadetTraining Centres in Atlantic Canada. Cadets from across Canada are at the school this summer learning how to fly gliders. The school also has satellite locations in Moncton, N.B., and Gander, N.L., where cadets from across the region are learning how to fly single-engine aircraft this summer. Through participation in the Cadet Program, young people develop valuable life skills in teamwork, citizenship, leadership and physical fitness while having fun and meeting new friends.
