Consider joining the Squadron Sponsoring Committee (SSC) as a member or parent volunteer!<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"background-color: #ffff00;\">SSC Pamphlet &#8211; Coming Soon<\/span><\/p>\n<h4><strong><u>SSC Role:<\/u><\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>The SSC is often described as the \u201cbackbone of the Air Cadet Movement\u201d because one of the real secrets to the success of an Air Cadet Squadron is a well organized and effective Squadron Sponsoring Committee (SSC).<\/p>\n<p>The Squadron Sponsoring Committee (SSC) works in partnership with Squadron staff to ensure the viability of the Squadron.<\/p>\n<p>The support is intended to compliment the resources available from the Canadian Armed Forces. The Squadron is supported through various forms of voluntary personal involvement, financial contributions, the provision of extra activities for the cadets, and other material assistance.<\/p>\n<h4><strong><u>How Can You Help?<\/u><\/strong><\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>We are currently recruiting volunteer parents who are willing to commit a few hours of their time during the Cadet training year to support various activities.<\/li>\n<li>Opportunities to be part of the SSC team, including on the Executive as well as volunteers at large are available.<\/li>\n<li>No prior skill or experience is needed. We have a range of opportunities where you can lend a hand! It can range from helping write an article for the SSC newsletter, picking up supplies for a training activity, helping with the meals or the Cadets, organizing a fundraiser, booking a facility, assisting Officers with optional activities, etc.<\/li>\n<li>All support will be greatly appreciated! The more parent involvement, the better! The work is shared more evenly, and you get to share innovative ideas to contribute to the Squadron\u2019s success! It\u2019s a win-win-win situation for the Cadets and the Squadron!<\/li>\n<li>To learn more, review our <em>SSC Information Pamphlet.<\/em> Further information is also included below.<\/li>\n<li>To become involved with our Squadron Sponsoring Committee, please contact the SSC by emailing: <a class=\"rABsFf RffVmb AL18ce\" href=\"&#109;a&#x69;l&#x74;&#111;&#x3a;&#103;&#x63;&#97;5&#x36;7&#x38;&#64;&#x67;&#109;&#x61;&#105;&#x6c;&#46;c&#x6f;m\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-tooltip-position=\"top\" data-tooltip=\"From your Google Contacts\">gc&#97;&#53;&#54;&#55;&#x38;&#x40;&#x67;&#x6d;&#x61;il&#46;&#99;&#111;&#109;<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4><strong><u>SSC Responsibilities:<\/u><\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>The Squadron Sponsorship Committee is responsible for:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Providing financial and administrative support for the Squadron;<\/li>\n<li>Providing appropriate accommodation for the Squadron\u2019s training, administration and stores;<\/li>\n<li>Providing training aids and equipment, including band instruments, not supplied by the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF);<\/li>\n<li>Providing transportation, when not available from the CAF for local training exercises.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><u>SSC Meetings:<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Meetings are held the regularly, usually each month during the training year.\u00a0 Depending on current regulations, these could be face to face or on -line.<\/p>\n<p><strong>2021-2022 (Interim) Squadron Sponsoring Committee Members:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Guy Albert, Chair<\/li>\n<li>Mike Wedge, Secretary<\/li>\n<li>Gail Lecky, Treasurer<\/li>\n<li>Pat Watson, Vice Chair<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>We recognize our financial supporters and volunteers who have worked to make our squadron successful, without volunteers many activities in a squadron would not take place.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>Range of involvement<\/strong><br \/>Volunteers give their time in a variety of ways, for example: <br \/>Member of the Executive &#8211; President, treasurer, Secretary etc.<br \/>Web Master<br \/>Band Master<br \/>Photographer\/Public relations<br \/>Running the canteen<br \/>Promotion interviews<br \/>Publishing a newsletter<br \/>Coordinating a mess dinner<br \/>Helping with special events<br \/>Driving cadets to and from events<br \/>Assist with summer course selections<br \/>Media relations representative for the squadron<br \/>Coordinating the Duke of Edinburgh\u2019s Awards program, etc.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Screening<\/strong><br \/>You will be pleased to know that the Air Cadet League has a special responsibility to ensure that all applicants for our Sponsoring Committees or Squadron staff comply with the mandatory reliable screening procedures.\u00a0 The entire registration and screening process is outlined in a League Handbook which is essential reading for a SSC and especially the member tasked with coordinating the process at the squadron.
